One of the species behind the attacks is believed to be Procompsognathus, an extinct species of dinosaur. In 1989, a series of strange animal attacks occur throughout Costa Rica and on the nearby island of Isla Nublar. The film was a critical and commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing film ever at the time and spawning five sequels.
